10 Gymnasts Win Gold Medals at Invitational

Competitors included Stefani Catour, Jeanette Dilley, Jamie Armijo, Cater Thomas, Emily Haisler, Tarrah Bonner, Courtney Reginato, Kaylee Carreira, Doris Lynk, Stephanie Vezilj, Jocelyn Boynton, Miranda Doller, Clarissa Dilley and Shayla Garcia.

  Seven Ahwatukee Foothills gymnasts from Chandler's Desert Lights Gymnastics captured gold medals at the 31st annual Fiesta Bowl Gymnastics Invitational last month at Arizona State University in Tempe.

  The Fiesta Bowl Invitational drew more than 300 gymnasts from Arizona, Minnesota, Ohio and Hawaii, making it one of the longest-running gymnastics competitions in the country.

  The gold medalists included Miranda Doller, level 8, vault; Stephanie Vezilj, Level 8, vault, uneven parallel bars, balance beam and all-around; Emily Heisler, Level 7, balance beam; and Stefani Catour, Level 6, balance beam.

  Tarrah Bonner, Level 5, collected the gold in vault, balance beam, floor exercise and all-around. Courtney Reginato, Level 5, took first in balance beam, and Kaylee Carreira, Level 5, ganered first on the uneven parallel bars.
  The Desert Lights team nabbed 25 gold medals as well as three team titles at the competition.
  Chandler residents Jamie Armijo, Level 9, earned gold in balance beam, floor exercise and all-around; Doris Lynk, Level 7, earned first place in vault; and Cater Thomas, Level 7, also won the vault.
